Israeli Bach Soloists present Bach's cantata cycle
For the first time in Israel, an authentic Bach cantata cycle is presented to the public. The cantata cycle lets Israeli audiences experience Bach's music over an entire season, in five different programs presented at the Kiryat-Yearim church in Abu Gosh, with its rich acoustics and unique atmosphere, the best place in which to listen to music by the German master.
Each concert in the cycle comprises cantatas by Bach selected according to the Lutheran calendar, along with other works by Bach and his contemporaries, including Vivaldi, Pergolesi, Purcell and Zelenka. Among the highlights of the cycle are a Christmas celebration including parts of Bach's Christmas Oratorio, and a program for Easter with Pergolesi's classic "Stabat Mater".
Additional concerts of Bach cantatas will be presented in various other venues across the country, from Beer Sheva to the Sea of Galilee. Below is the full list of our concerts this season.
